NSTTA Return to Play Plan

While NSTTA will not run any events until fall 2020, we realize that some private clubs will be able to open before that. We have decided to put together some guidelines for clubs to follow when they do reopen.

All clubs must follow the current NS Public Health Guidelines. It is the clubs responsibility to safely offer services, operating within provincial guidelines.

Everybody needs to exercise personal responsibility by observing these rules including staying home if they are feeling unwell, they have a slight symptom or a suspicion of infection.

Environment

1. Use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the training area.

2. Respect 6 foot distancing at all times.

3. Participants will each have a space to put their belongings which is 6 feet apart from others and which is sanitized before and after each session.

4. Participants should come to the training already dressed to play to avoid the use of change rooms. If change rooms/washrooms are needed, please follow the guidelines of the facility in regards to number of people and sanitization requirements.

5. Participants should stay by their own end of the table or in their space during any breaks.

6. Maximum number of players and coaches needs to follow provincial health guidelines. This is currently set at 10 people (May 29). NSTTA suggests to have approximately 150 square feet per person.

7. Only singles play is allowed at this time.

Equipment

1. The same person that sets up a table and/or net should be the same person that is responsible to put the equipment away. When 2 people are required to flip up a table for safety reasons, this is allowed since you will still be 6 feet apart.

2. Balls – There are 3 options: a. Each player should have their own balls, clearly marked, and they are the only ones who will touch those balls. b. One ball per table that is sanitized before being put back in play each time. c. The coach is the only one to touch the balls.

3. Players shall refrain from wiping their hand on the table. 4. Tables will be disinfected before and after each session.

Personal Protective Precautions

1. All players/coaches avoid touching their faces since this is the most common way of becoming infected.

2. Participants should receive a “Return to Play Guidelines” sheet made by the International Table Tennis Federation and a copy of this plan before returning to play.

3. Each club must maintain a participant registry (names, dates, time, and contact info)

Since each club is in a different facility, we encourage you to make your own plans on how players will enter/exit the training area that are safe for everyone (i.e. wear a mask into and out of the building, wait in cars until the door is opened by a coach etc.) and also follow the guidelines of the facility in which you are training.

Communication

This plan, as well as the ITTF guidelines will be  circulated to our members. We encourage clubs to post a copy of both documents in their training area as well as give them out to each participant.

Regards,

NSTTA
